NI185 continued: All of England

NI185: London Boroughs

NI185: Rural vs Urban

This monster graph comes with the same caveats as yesterday’s. Several LAs have not submitted complete sets of figures and so all this should be treated as draft. Next year’s figures should be more accurate.

I had really hoped to compare this with Stockholm Environment Institute’s REAP data to see how close the correlation between the carbon emissions calculated using economic input-output tables (REAP) and the self-reported ones from NI185 are. Unfortunately it seems that the REAP methodology assumes that everyone benefits equally from public sector spending.

The next line of attack was to compare the NI185 data with overall carbon footprint in REAP as this is an indicator of the socio-economic make-up of a Local Authority. I have to say I was very surprised to see no relationship here. If anyone can suggest reasons for the massive variation in performance between Local Authorities, I’d be really interested to hear them.

Now, onto the graphs!
